Laughing dove

Found this bird sleeping in an acacia tree as I was stalking the Malabar lark. Woke up briefly and then went back to sleep.
Large egret in flight

Found this graceful bird in the Bhadra back waters during the boat ride. Took care not to burn the highlights in this highly contrasting composition by underexposing over 2 stops.

Little heron

A lifer for me. Flushed this secretive bird accidentally as I was walking along the Bhadra irrigation canal. It settled on the opposite bank of the canal for me to get one image. I was under the impression then that it was a Night heron! I id'ed the bird much later and the green crown / wings were a give away. Also yellow eyes vs. red of night heron.
Cropped heavily.

The highlight of this trip! Have searched in vain for this bird elsewhere (Masinagudi in Tamil Nadu) and was thrilled when Swarna nailed this pair in a grass plot. Took a lot of time to stalk the bird. I had to lug the camera with the tripod because of poor light (it was drizzling).

Spotted multiple flocks in Bhadra including one outside the JLR cottage verandah! This one was spotted during the jeep safari. Record shot. Pardon the image quality (800 ISO!).
Little cormorant

Easily approachable from the boat. Fairly simple to make frame filling images.
